Since 2006, Garden Oak Press has published the San Diego Poetry Annual, an anthology that has become part of the permanent collections of every college and university library in San Diego County, the county and city public library systems and the libraries of independent cities throughout the region.
In 2012, Garden Oak Press launched its partnership publishing concept — a joint effort by authors and the publisher to produce, distribute and promote high quality works that might otherwise go unpublished. The first effort, Santa Monica Disposal & Salvage by Penny Perry, appeared in April and received rave reviews from Marge Piercy, Steve Kowit, Maria Mazziotti Gillan and Diane Wakoski.
Three other poetry collections followed in 2012. In 2013, two more poetry collections were published, with three new titles in 2014. All the books appear on the Books pages.
The concept of partnership publishing minimizes costs to both the author and the publisher while guaranteeing the author the lion’s share of royalties. It was created by William Harry Harding, an award-winning novelist and publisher of the San Diego Poetry Annual, to take advantage of new technology and an expanding distribution system. The result is the low-cost U.S. production and international distribution of library-quality books, promoted by the authors and by Garden Oak Press.
All books published by Garden Oak Press are available online at Amazon.com. Our books can be ordered through bookstores worldwide through Ingram, the largest independent book distributor.
